Report an Absent Student

Good attendance at school is vital for your son or daughter to achieve his/her full educational potential.  It is a legal requirement that schools keep accurate records of student attendance.  

If your son or daughter is unable to attend school:

  • Parents should inform school by telephone or email by 10.00am on the first day of absence giving his/her name, tutor group and a brief reason for his/her absence;
  • When s/he returns to school s/he is to bring a letter from a parent confirming the dates of absence and with an explanation for the absence;
  • S/he must speak to his/her form tutor and subject teachers in order to catch up and complete all work missed;
  • If absence is clearly going to be for an extended period of time, parents should contact the form tutor to discuss how s/he can be supported in his work.
