Admissions

Welcome to the Admissions section of the website.

Entry to Bournemouth School is usually in Year 7 or into our Sixth Form in Year 12.  Places do occasionally become available in Years 8 – 11 for which we run a waiting list.  Please refer to the admissions policy for further details.

We recognise that choosing a school is one of the most important decisions that we make in life.  Please come and see for yourself all that Bournemouth School has to offer and the facilities available to encourage our students to achieve their full potential. We invite you to attend our Open Evening or alternatively we will be happy to arrange for you to join one of our arranged tours.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We very much look forward to meeting you.

Bournemouth School is an Academy and the governing body is responsible for setting the admissions policy.  The admissions policy is updated annually, following consultation with other local admissions authorities.

Under Section 88H(2) of the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998, objections were referred to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator about the admission arrangements for 2013 to admit a limited number of girls to our sixth form.

The decision of the adjudicator (dated 20 September 2012) was not to uphold the judgement.  This means that Bournemouth School may admit girls to our sixth form from next September.

The adjudicator, reaching his decision, considered all aspects of our sixth form admission arrangements and determined that some changes should be made.  We have consequently reissued our admission policyto this effect.  The revised policy is now available below.
