Art can play a significant role in the motivation of young people and we are passionate about the importance of an Art education. Art more than any other academic discipline makes an immediate impact. The Art Department aims to harness and develop the creative and talented young artists that attend Bournemouth School. The Department is proud of the strong artistic presence throughout the school which helps to shape both its environment and ethos.
We are fortunate at Bournemouth School to have an excellent range of resources. The Art department is housed in a purpose built Art and Technology block and consists of two large art studios, kiln and clay preparation rooms and recently refurbished and well-equipped ICT room. This allows students to experience a diverse and wide ranging Art education.
The Department consists of two full time specialist Art teachers and a full time Art technician. The Art Department works as a team to provide the best learning experience that it can for the students at Bournemouth School. Innovation, creativity and an environment that allows all students to succeed is the guiding aim of the Art Department team.
The Department is committed to developing creative, innovative and passionate Art students. The approach aims to bring an Art education to all and to ensure that students leave with a lifelong interest and appreciation of the Arts.
Art makes an invaluable contribution to the ethos and environment that Bournemouth School students learn within. The aim is to have a wide range of visual displays throughout the school that showcase student talent. As part of this process students are encouraged to attend after school Art activities, and for examination groups there are the opportunities to display their work in the annual Art Exhibition.
