Electronics is suited to students seeking to undertake an analytically focused degree. Our aim is to use a practical approach to discovery with reinforcement through theoretical knowledge.
Two labs with maintained low voltage supplies are used that can accommodate up to 20 students. Centralised test equipment is shared between AS and A2. Students have all the main components in a kit that they look after for the year.
One member of staff teaches both AS and A2 year groups.
Electronics supports the work of other departments and provides students with a broad range of learning styles. An understanding of the fundamentals of mathematics helps enhance a student’s learning.
Students often use their skills from electronics in helping with theatre and stage productions. Current students have used their skills in similar fields in the local community.
