Houses

The Houses are concerned with all academic matters; progress, schoolwork and homework.
We strive to:

  • Ensure that each boy is treated as an individual
  • Give support to meet individual needs
  • Support and encourage the academic, sporting and cultural development of each boy
  • Provide a point of contact between school and home

The School is organised into five Houses each with a house colour and led by a Head of House:

House Led by House Colour
Darwin Mr M Pritchard Yellow
Elgar Mr R Cook Light Blue
Newton Mr D Robjohns Dark Blue
Scott Mr D Hughes Red
Turner Mrs E Teenan Green

Each House consists of about 210 students from Year 7 to Year 13.  Each year group in Years 7-11 has one Tutor Group of about 30 boys looked after by a Form Tutor.  In the Sixth Form there are three tutor groups in each House.  In each tutor group there are students from both Years 12 and 13.  The Form Tutor monitors each boy’s progress and education and keeps the Head of House informed.  House Captains and House Prefects are selected on an annual basis and represent their House in a number of ways as well as being role models for their House members.  The team of Form Tutors, House Captain and House Prefects contribute to the running of the House, which is overseen by the Head of House.
