Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727) was an English scientist, who changed the way we look at the world. He made many discoveries in astronomy, mathematics, and physics, which is the study of matter and energy. He is most famous for his work on gravity, or the force that pulls, or attracts, objects to the ground. Some say he figured this out by watching an apple drop from a tree. |

Head of House: Mr D Robjohns As Housemaster of Newton I am in the enviable position of working on a day to day basis with around 220 boys and 6 girls, who have the world at their feet. To help guide them through the trials and tribulations of their school careers and lives outside of school, we have a dedicated and hard working team of tutors, teachers and prefects who are there to offer advice and support. Their relationship with the pupils is fundamental to the boys’ development. We are a tight knit community who will help each other at the drop of a hat and, for me, that is one of the strengths of the house system. House competitions are important to us, but our overriding aim is to get the best out of the boys and prepare them for their futures. I firmly believe that the pupils in Newton are all individuals with their own dreams, but the companionship and sense of purpose that the boys display is what makes the house and the school something very special. With the fantastic opportunities that Bournemouth School has to offer each and every one of the boys, I know that they can achieve their ambitions through hard work. As Sir Isaac Newton himself said “If I have ever made any valuable discoveries, it has been due more to patient attention, than to any other talent.” |

House Captain: Chris Evans
I am very proud to be House Captain for Newton this year, and along with Mr Robjohns, we aim to push for another successful year, and defend the House Championship, which, for the first time in 20 years, was won by Newton! Everyone in the House has something to offer, whether it be participating in sporting events, House Music or Singing, or by helping out with a Charity event, and as a House, we push for the best results we can. Having been a member of the Bournemouth School community since year 7, being House Captain is a great honour, and I relish the chance to do all I can for both the House and the school. The upcoming year will bring exciting new challenges for everyone in the house, especially those sitting GCSE’s and A-Levels, however the excellent support from everyone within the school will give us all the best opportunities in the future. As House Captain, I aim to be right in the mix of all events and activities and aim to push on for yet another fantastic year, and defend the House Championship. The numerous charity events held by the House brings all the years together for such fantastic causes, this year we aim to raise as much money as possible for the Luke Woolner Foundation and Naomi House. As a keen sportsman, I enjoy taking part in as many events as I can, but of course, the House Championship is very competitive so we like to win as many events as we can! |
