I would like to welcome each and every one of you to the Bournemouth School community. I am looking forward to supporting and working closely with you all as your child starts their exciting journey with us through secondary school. We are very fortunate to have a fantastic set of tutors in Year 7 who are also our House Leaders. They will encourage your child to arrive with a ‘can do’ attitude and make the most of the huge range of opportunities that awaits them, both within and outside of the classroom. I am sure that all of your children will play a full and active role in our outstanding community.
As a Head of Year, I have high expectations of the students both academically and in their behaviour. Of equal importance to me, however, is that all students are happy, healthy and enjoying school, in order that they can achieve the successes of which they are all capable.
On this page you will find links to many aspects of our school life. Please refer to this information as it will answer many of your questions. Be assured that we are committed to securing your son’s smooth transition to secondary school. The start of Year 7 will be an exciting time for all of us and I am confident that your child will settle into new routines quickly. New friends, new teachers and new opportunities will be awaiting them! I look forward to meeting you all in the near future.

Students who are eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant are those who are in receipt of Free School Meals as at 31 October 2021, or at any point during the last six years have been in receipt of Free School Meals or are the children of UK Armed Forces personnel. For further information on how the Pupil Premium Grant is used please refer to the Pupil Premium Policy.

Parents in receipt of either Income Support, Income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, the guaranteed element of Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and your annual gross income does not exceed £16,190 (as at 31st January 2022)), Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit), Universal Credit (if you apply on or after 1 April 2018, your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get) are currently entitled to free school meals. An application can be made online via the BCP website.
If we have been advised that your child is entitled to Free School Meals we will inform you on the new parents’ evening (in the literature given out on the evening). If you do not receive a letter and you believe that your child should receive free school meals please contact us.
