Community

Here you will find opportunities to get involved, either from The Old Bournemouthians' Association to fund raising.  High quality education is expensive and the school relies on the financial support of parents to help us to provide the broad range of educational opportunities for your son that makes our school so special.

The Bournemouthian

The Bournemouthian is the long-running news source of Bournemouth School.  It was originally published as a magazine.  After a long hiatus, it returned to life in 2016 with a new digital approach to distribution of content.

The Bournemouthian is solely written and edited by students of the school.  The views are often  intended to be contentious and many of the articles are written to be amusing.  We encourage students to debate current school issues using the website as a vessel for debate.

The School Fund

The School Fund enables us to provide many extra facilities and activities for all the pupils.  We ask that all parents contribute something to this Fund if they can afford it.  A minimum voluntary donation of £15 per month per family is suggested, but we would not expect contributions from parents who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances.

You can provide additional support, by giving through Gift Aid. Gift Aid enables the School to reclaim tax paid by you on your contributions.  For example, if you are a basic rate tax payer, the school can reclaim an extra £25 for every £100 donated.  You may also be able to claim tax relief on your donation.  To make a donation using Gift Aid, complete the Standing Order Mandate and the Gift Aid Declaration forms.  Please can you ensure that you highlight on the top of the Standing Order form if it is a new or replacement Standing Order.  If you do not wish to use Gift Aid then other contributions to the fund will still be most welcome.

The School Fund is a Registered Charity, Registration Number 291760.  A copy of the minutes of the meeting at which the rules were drawn up is available on request.

Parents' Association Lottery

Parents of students attending the school are invited to participate in the Lottery, which has been formed as a continuing means of raising funds for the benefit of pupils at Bournemouth School.  The Lottery is open to all Parents / Guardians of current students, Staff and pupils over the age of 16.

In every month of each year, a £1 unit has the chance of winning you a share of the total money in that month’s draw.  For example, out of a total 600 x £1 units, 3 lucky winners would receive £100 each.

We would greatly appreciate your valuable contribution to fundraising, which will be of immense benefit to pupils and all departments within the school.  Every department will have the chance to benefit and you will be kept informed as to how the funds are distributed through our Newsletter.

To participate please contact the School for a Subscription Form.  The monthly payment can be between £1 up to a maximum of £15.  Each numbered ticket will be a potential monthly winner in every monthly Lottery draw.
