Information for Universities for Entry in 2024
At Bournemouth School we believe every student should achieve their potential both academically, and in their personal development.
Sixth Form students at Bournemouth School usually undertake a programme of study that comprises either 4 A Levels or 3 A Levels and an additional course equivalent to half an A Level. In doing so it is our belief that this will push students on to a higher level of academic rigour that will provide the tools needed to succeed highly at university. When supporting university applications, Bournemouth School take into account a wide range of assessment data when making predicted grades, including continuous classroom assessment and internal examinations. Entry to Bournemouth School’s Sixth Form is based on a student’s best eight GCSE results, and we serve a wide catchment area. There are over 250 students in our Sixth Form, with class sizes sometimes over 25. The students come from a variety of backgrounds, with around 7% of sixth form students in receipt of a bursary to support their continuing education. Last year over 80% of students received offers from higher education institutions and we endeavour to provide all Higher Learning institutions of a straightforward and clear picture of our students’ suitability for the course for which they are applying.
