Sixth Form Induction
The process of joining the Sixth Form begins by attending the Sixth Form Open Evening and completing an application form. All students who return their application form by 31st January are conditionally offered a place in the Sixth Form, subject to meeting our entry requirements.
All students who subsequently accept a place to join Year 12 are expected to attend the Year 12 Induction Day at the end of June. During the day students will experience lessons in the subjects they have chosen and have the opportunity to discuss their option choices and career aspirations. They will also be issued with a Year 12 Handbook.
Following the publication of GCSE results, those applicants who meet the entry requirements are expected to attend a Registration Day at the beginning of September. Students who do not attend Registration Day and complete the admissions process will not be able to join the Sixth Form. During the registration process, students confirm their subject choices. Independent careers advice will be available to ensure that students embark upon an appropriate programme of study.
Tutors and the Head of Year will monitor students’ attendance, behaviour and progress throughout their time in the Sixth Form, but especially over the first few weeks, to identify as early as possible any potential barriers to students realising their full potential.
