Scott's biography:

After leaving school I spent 6 months in eastern Canada instructing Snowbarding. in 2005 I moved to Leicester to study Medicine.

I spent 5 years at Leicester Medical School, captaining the medical school rugby team, making friends, and occasionally studying.

After completing 2 years of foundation training in medicine and surgery, I worked in New Zealand before returning to start my 7 year training in emergency medicine and air ambulance medicine.

Within this time I settled in Leicestershire, married my wife (whom I met on my second day of medical school), and grew a family of 2 beautiful boys and two equally beautiful golden retrievers!

I continued my passion for sport and fitness and notably ran the London Marathon in my air ambulance suit, boots and carrying a 20kg response bag

I also recently appeared as a contender on the second series of BBC’s Gladiators.

What was best about Scott's time at Bournemouth School?

I made lifelong friends, who I see regularly 20 years later.
I was encouraged to push myself – physically and educationally,
Developing my leadership abilities – especially within the CCF – here I made strong bonds with other students, gained incredible experiences and developed skills for life.
The school fostered a great environment for taking opportunties.

Who does Scott remember most fondly?

Mr Beardshaw – head of Elgar House
Mr Oates – my form tutor and maths teacher.

What would Scott change about their time at Bournemouth School?

I would throw myself into every activity going, every camp, every after-school club to really make the most of all the opportunities available.

What is Scott's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?

Playing in the copse every break time and lunch time – sprinting around through the woods for every available minute until the bell went, always arriving back in class sweaty and dusty!

Scott's final thoughts

Bournemouth School for me was the foundation for building a career doing something I love, that is challenging, but rewarding. It set me up with the right attitude to seize every opportunity, and being relentless in that pursuit.

Enjoy your time at the school, you will never have this again.
