Paul's biography:
After leaving school in 1988 I went into convenience store management.
In 1995 I moved into broadcasting in London for a few years before working again in Dorset in Post Offices for 15 years from 2000.
I then became a driving instructor which I continue with to this day.
Alongside all of that I have been a Scout Leader since I was 18 (the school Scout Troop didn’t manage to move me from the group I have been with since I was 8 years old!).
I also volunteered as a radio presenter for Hospital Radio Bedside for 36 years and have continued as the station became Dorset Coast Radio where I now present a show every weekday morning.
What was best about Paul's time at Bournemouth School?
I made some great friends and some great memories. Despite not being the most academic of pupils I still learnt a lot from many of the teachers.
Who does Paul remember most fondly?
John Hawkins (‘Happy Harry’) springs to mind – always there with encouragement and support.
Our first form teacher was John Mahoney, he made us feel very welcome in 1983.
Nigel Oates was the only maths teacher who could get me to understand figures!
Mike Webb made Geography fascinating and I still vividly remember his fantastic drawings on the blackboard.
What would Paul change about their time at Bournemouth School?
The cross country running was my worst memory – so I would change that.
What is Paul's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?
Vivid memory is the death of Mr Stickland (Head of PE) in 1985 – shocking.
A lot of memories of spending lunchtimes larking around in the copse or annoying ‘Fred’ who controlled the dinner queue.
