Law Society students visit Middle Temple

On Wednesday 8 July, ten Year 12 students from Bournemouth School’s Law Society were privileged to visit Middle Temple, one of the historic Inns of Court in London.

Students were warmly hosted by Tim Reardon, a Bournemouth School alumnus, and Andrew Burns KC, Head of Devereux Chambers, who shared their expertise and provided a fascinating insight into life at the Bar.

During the visit, students had the unique opportunity to observe proceedings at the Royal Courts of Justice, gaining first-hand experience of the workings of the legal system. They also enjoyed a memorable lunch in the magnificent Elizabethan Hall at Middle Temple, a historic setting that has played an important role in legal education and tradition for centuries.

The visit included an engaging talk on the route to becoming a barrister, where students learned more about the training process, the important role of the Inns of Court, and the opportunities and challenges involved in pursuing a career in law.

The experience provided an invaluable insight into the legal profession and helped students develop a deeper understanding of the pathways available to those interested in a future career at the Bar.

Thank you to Mr Reardon for organising this trip for our aspiring legal practitioners. Every attendee found it incredibly interesting. An additional thank you to Mr Andrew Burns for sharing his legal and historical knowledge throughout the day.

Finally, a special thank you to Mrs Barnard-Dyson for liaising and organising the trip, without whom it would not have been possible, and to Mr Riddles and Mrs Hamalienko for accompanying the students throughout the day.
