Bournemouth School has paid tribute to Alan Turle, who is stepping down from the Board of Trustees at the end of the summer term following ten years of distinguished service.
Alan’s association with Bournemouth School stretches back many decades. He first joined the School as a student and later maintained his connection through the Old Bournemouthians’ Association. Following his retirement from a successful career as a solicitor, Alan was co-opted onto the Board of Trustees, bringing with him a wealth of professional experience and sound judgement.
Over the past ten years, Alan has become an invaluable and highly influential member of the Board. His wisdom, thoughtful advice and deep affection for the School have made a considerable contribution to its governance and development.
Alan’s service was formally recognised at the School’s Prize Giving evening on Tuesday, 14 July, when the Headmaster made a presentation to him on behalf of the whole school community.
The Headmaster said: ‘Alan is one of our most treasured and esteemed colleagues. We have benefited enormously from his wisdom and sage advice, and we are immensely grateful for everything he has contributed to Bournemouth School.’
Although Alan is stepping down as a Trustee, he remains very much a part of the Bournemouth School community, and we hope he will continue to be a frequent visitor for many years to come.
His experience, insight and commitment will be greatly missed by the Board – although, according to the Headmaster, his terrible jokes may be missed rather less!
