Former Student Awarded

On Wednesday 11 March, our Year 12 team hosted a Post-18 Pathway Parent Evening with an aim of sharing with parents the various options available once our students complete their education.

We were delighted that a small number of alumni agreed to come back and speak about their varying paths since leaving Bournemouth School, discussing the various merits of taking a gap year, exploring the workplace apprenticeship route or deciding to accept an immediate place at university.

One of these alumni was Ben, a recent Bournemouth School student who has decided to explore the degree apprenticeship route with JP Morgan. He described the application process in detail, the competitive interviewing procedure and how he balances working within a professional environment while studying towards a qualification with a Russell Group university. His personal insight and first-hand knowledge was incredibly insightful for our current Year 12 cohort.

Ben has proved invaluable to us since leaving Bournemouth School. Not only was he present for yesterdayโ€™s event, he has previously taken part in other Sixth Form school events, such as being a keynote speaker at the Conversation Evening, as well as attending the recent Sixth Form Open Evening to provide early advice and guidance on choosing A Levels and possible post-18 pathways.

Alongside this, Ben has provided both 1:1 support for students applying to JP Morgan as well as taking part in workshops and group sessions advising students on how best to be successful in applying for degree apprenticeships.

We want to offer a huge thank you to Ben for taking time out of his schedule to visit the school and speak to our students on multiple occasions and in recognition of this, Ben was gifted with the illustrious Bournemouth School paperweight by Dr Lewis as a small gesture of thanks for all his contributions.
