Fourteen enthusiastic Business and Economics students attended the annual accountancy and finance day at Southampton Solent University on Monday, 20th October 2025, joining over 100 students from schools and colleges across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The event provided a valuable opportunity for young people to explore real-world financial challenges, gain insight into university life, and engage with academic professionals in the field of finance.
A highlight of the day was a finance problem-solving challenge, in which students worked collaboratively to analyse complex financial scenarios and present their solutions to a panel of four university lecturers. The competition encouraged teamwork, strategic thinking, and practical application of classroom knowledge in a dynamic and professional setting.
After an engaging and competitive session, the winning team was announced as James, Cameron, Deeyem and Karam; their presentation impressed the judges with its clear analysis, confident delivery and creative financial solutions.
Throughout the event, students had the chance to attend interactive workshops, explore degree pathways in accounting and finance. The day offered valuable exposure to university-level learning and inspired many participants to consider pursuing further study in business, finance, or economics.
