Ross's biography:
After school I studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford. This prepared me well for a life which has been half working for UK and overseas governments as a civil servant and consultant on regulatory design, and half working for businesses trying to manage their regulatory burdens. I now lead a department for a major FTSE multinational. I married at 23, and live with my wife and our two children in Somerset.
What was best about Ross's time at Bournemouth School?
The camaraderie of my form group and the mischief we’d get up to both in and outside of lessons.
Who does Ross remember most fondly?
Mr Jordan was probably the teacher that left the biggest impression upon me. He taught me English for some of my GCSE course, and was involved in many of the associations to which I belonged: debating, the school council, and the quiz team among them.
What would Ross change about their time at Bournemouth School?
I didn’t like having to study two languages (as well as Latin) to year nine. Every other week, Thursday afternoons were double German, and doubtless the least enjoyable part of the fortnight.
What is Ross's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?
There are so many, and some of them unprintable. Perhaps one of the tamer ones was the game we’d play in chemistry: how many test-tube holders and crocodile clips could you clip to the back of another boy’s jacket tail or apron before he noticed? I think we managed to hang nearly a kilogram in lab equipment one lesson.
