Ian's biography:
My name is Ian, I’m a 23 year old medical student at the university of Aberdeen, currently in my second year. I was born in London and at 8 months old, moved to New Zealand until I was 4 and a half.
Moved to Bournemouth and entered Bournemouth school aged 11 until I was 18. From school, I spent 3 years studying biomedical sciences at Cardiff, and took a gap year to save up for my medical degree. Since 2023, I have been living in Scotland, and love it up here! medicine is a healthy challenge, keeping me on my toes always.
I have a brother, who is now a doctor (also went to Bournemouth school), and my mum is a nurse in Bournemouth hospital.
What was best about Ian's time at Bournemouth School?
The teaching, the friends I made along the way, the banter, the chance to express yourself. Bournemouth school always gave students opportunities to shine, and they were always recognised for it.
Who does Ian remember most fondly?
The unwavering support I was given by Dr Lewis, Mrs Ateaque and Mrs Monzon when my father passed away unexpectedly in March 2019. I will always remember their kindness towards me during this difficult time.
What would Ian change about their time at Bournemouth School?
Clamp down on bullying, it is very important to learn these principles during childhood. Having seen people in my year get picked on, it has a long lasting effect.
What is Ian's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?
1T1B in the junior playground in year 13.
Ian's final thoughts
Special thanks to Dr Lewis, he is the best headmaster there is to offer!
