Former Student Releases Film

We’re pleased to share news of the success of former Bournemouth School student Christopher Anthony, who has written and directed his debut feature film, Heavyweight, which is due to be released in UK cinemas in 2026.

Heavyweight is a drama set in the world of professional boxing, focusing on the intense build-up to a career-defining fight. The story centres on a fighter and his team as pressure mounts in the days and hours leading up to a major bout.

The film has already gained attention on the festival circuit, including a high-profile premiere slot at Raindance, and has received award recognition during its early run. A UK theatrical release is planned, with screenings expected across a range of cinemas.

Christopher’s route into filmmaking is a great example of where ambition, creativity and persistence can lead. Since leaving Bournemouth School, he has built extensive experience in the screen industries before stepping into feature writing and directing.

We congratulate Christopher and everyone involved in Heavyweight on reaching this milestone, and we look forward to following his future work.

Bournemouth School has not reviewed the film and does not endorse or recommend its content. As with any commercial cinema release, audiences should make their own viewing decisions and refer to the BBFC age rating and content guidance once published.
