David's biography:
Left school to join family removals business in June 1962. I did a day release HND in Business Studies at Bournemouth College. Excellent course and good teachers on business letter writing, accountancy, reading balance sheets and economic geography. Due to difficulty in getting the day off each week I didn’t complete the course but learnt a lot.
I took an interest in politics and was elected to Bournemouth Council in 1969, took a full part, chaired housing committee and spent the last 9 years as leader up to 1991. Was involved in building the BIC, the Littledown Centre and in attracting JP Morgan to relocate to Bournemouth.
Was a Governor of Bournemouth School and then on the committee of the Old Bournemouthians including a period as chairman up to 2022.
Took a full part in my Trade Association, the British Association of Removers. Rotarian.
Awarded MBE in 2026 King’s New Year Honours list.
