Richard's biography:

Obtained a 2.1 in Economics and a Soccer Blue at Cambridge, beating Oxford 3-2 in 1965.

Married to Jean in 1966 (still, now in our 60th year) with two children, Mark and Emma, and two granddaughters.

Began career at Rolls-Royce and remained in manufacturing companies throughout my working life, especially in the automotive and aerospace sectors. Qualified as a Management Accountant. In 1987 moved with an American company, Vickers Inc, to the USA where we have stayed until today. Now dual citizens and retired in beautiful Prescott, Arizona.

What was best about Richard's time at Bournemouth School?

The great friendships made, especially in the sports teams.

Who does Richard remember most fondly?

Paddy Roberts, Alan Brown, Mr. Lenton, Mr.Barraclough and Don Matthews – and, of course, the inimitable Jasper (JJ Dodds).
Good friends with Pete Madgett, Pete Wickham, Jim Roberts, and Don Taylor.

What would Richard change about their time at Bournemouth School?

Terrible shame that Bournemouth, and therefore, Bournemouth School became a part of Dorset. Too big a fish in a small pond.

What is Richard's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?

Being stopped at the bus stop after 1st XI training by EG Bennet and placed in detention for not wearing my school cap!!

Richard's final thoughts

We were all so lucky to get through the 11+ exams and be placed at Bournemouth School. The range and breadth of learning was quite exceptional and set a very solid base for our futures.
