What was best about John's time at Bournemouth School?

In 1948, the school First XI cricket team had nine of its players in the Hampshire County Schools’ XI. I was amazed that, despite the war, we took part in football, cricket and athletics against other schools, travelling to places such as Southampton, Portsmouth, Poole and even Petersfield.

Who does John remember most fondly?

Four of my school friends went to Sandhurst in 1948; one of my friendsd had a trial for Hampshire CC. We all owed so much to Bournemouth School.
One of our most famous old boys, Sir David English, also joined Bournemouth School in 1941. I met up with him again in the 1980s, when he was editor of the Daily Mail, and his paper was sponsoring the Ideal Home Exhibition, where I had a large stand as Assistant Sales Director for British Gas.

What is John's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?

I joined in 1941, two years into the Second World War. Taunton School, Southampton, was sharing the school with us – one term mornings, afternoons the next.
