Chris's biography:

After a few years of travelling, I landed a job in the linguistics department of a multinational marketing company. In spite of five rounds of interviews it wasn’t until I was employed that they realised I was tone deaf and only spoke one language, so they banished me to Los Angeles which has been home for 30+ years.

Proud father of 15-year-old twin boys. Retired, or as I prefer to see things, treating the next two years as a self-directed apprenticeship where the goal is learning, output, and range, not polish or income. Having converted the spare lot on the back of my home into a nursery for native Californian plants, I’m focusing on casting pots that reflect the beauty and intricacy of native plant architecture. Think Iris van Herpen for plant pots.

What was best about Chris's time at Bournemouth School?

Undoubtedly the lifelong friends I made in Mark Baker, Andy Stevens, Barry Tarrant, Simon Griffin and Nick Gunn.
I also appreciate the opportunities afforded to me through the cadets, field trips and individual attention of some of the outstanding teachers.

Who does Chris remember most fondly?

The support of teachers like Mr Lenton and Mr Jones (who dismissed my purple hair dye as being within the rules because he couldn’t remember what my natural colour was).

What would Chris change about their time at Bournemouth School?

More break time and lunchtime supervision.

What is Chris's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?

Doing endless barrel rolls and loop-the-loops in a two seater-plane for cadets. Unable to let go of the dashboard I was white knuckling to put on the face mask and ask the pilot to stop. “Wow you really loved that, no one ever does that many,” cheered the pilot as we bonded over the experience!
