Dan's biography:

I went into dance theater school. Within 2 years, was playing the lead in Lloyd Webbers shows, West End and Worldwide. Los Angeles called, shooting numerous tv shows, movies. During a show I fractured my spine, paralyzed, and told disabled for life. We become what we believe. I took control, coming back stronger. Became Head Football Coach on the US Olympic Program, founded a dynamic non-profit, created a top performance gym, shot my documentary with Mark Burnett and raced the Ironman. Hit in the head by a metal pole, on a bike, at 22mph. Part of my brain died, having to learn to talk again, and function properly. I discovered brain health and unbelievable powers we rarely tap in to. I founded Total Balance Company, supporting health, grossing $13mill in 16 months. I have released three books, including Born Superhuman – showcasing our natural brilliance. We (YOU) are Born SuperHuman.

What was best about Dan's time at Bournemouth School?

So many amazing memories. Friendships in abundance. Feeling of belonging, culture, excellence. Sports was my passion, coaches and teachers left a positive, lasting impression. The sense of school pride, educational demand, but not realizing the extent of the impact would last for life. David Strickland made the biggest impact through football – instilling a self belief, smart hard work wins.

Who does Dan remember most fondly?

Christian Morris was my best friend. Always admired him. Dave Davison’s, Rob, Simon Conroy. Mainly the football team – Trevor, Morgan, amazing team with 10 county players. John Shepherd, Miss Bell, Happy Harry and Lodge. Names i don’t remember, but their impact and how they made me feel – never forgotten. Lost contact over years – but heart never lost.

What would Dan change about their time at Bournemouth School?

I would have changed the separation of the BS and BSG – where we had no social engagement. I believe in a school of 1300 boys we lost a little social ability interacting with girls on a daily basis. Combined, we would have been a formidable force, just with intelligence shared with even once a week connections. Socialization, trust, irreplaceable.

What is Dan's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?

We had gone to watch England vs Brazil at Wembley, my first year at BS. After the game, I snuck away meeting the players, keeping the bus waiting an hour, searching madly for me. John Shepherd, angry, said i would never be a player, igniting a fuel of character, success, changing my life. No one determines our future, except us!

Dan's final thoughts

Your brain is thriving while at school. The messaging you give through your mindset will determine the neural connections built. See every challenge as an opportunity to learn, grow evolve. You are born to thrive, be amazing. At any age. Stay true to you. Only from the deepest valleys can the highest mountains be climbed. Grateful we are connected. BSB!!!
