Peter studied:
Peter received the following accolades whilst at school:
- Played football and cricket for the school throughout my time there.
- Represented the school at Athletics and Cross Country (won the School Junior Cross Country on one occasion.)
After school, Peter went to: I worked for the Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance.
Peter's biography:
I soon after joined BT until 1977. Thereafter, I set up a book-keeping business locally and still work.
What was best about Peter's time at Bournemouth School?
The sport and the friends I made there. I’m still friends with many fellow pupils 60 years on.
Who does Peter remember most fondly?
Tom Burcher, my English teacher, who gave me the most and of whom I still have fond memories. I followed in the footsteps of my brother to BS. He is pictured on the left of the photo with our sister, Sally. My two sons Ben (1986-1993) and Nick (1986-1995) enjoyed their time there more than me.
What would Peter change about their time at Bournemouth School?
I’d probably work a little harder!
What is Peter's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?
Remembering the toilet seat hung on the clock tower at the end of term in 1964! I met my wife in 1963 during this time – a BSG pupil called Linda Jones. We married in 1969 and are still together living locally.
Peter's final thoughts
I wasn’t happy at school. Luckily, by the time my sons attended, the caning had stopped.
