Martin's biography:
Born in Ystrad Mynach, South Wales my parents moved to Bournemouth when I was nearly 14. I didn’t want to go to University but was lucky enough to meet a son (another ex BS student) of a picture framing business owner who said they were looking for someone practical. I got the job and have been there ever since. I started making frames, moved into management and eventually became one of the directors. During that time I got married and have two children, one of whom is currently at Bournemouth School.
What was best about Martin's time at Bournemouth School?
I was more practical than studious. The woodwork class and sports lessons were my favourite memories.
Who does Martin remember most fondly?
Mr Cotterill (woodwork)
Mr Kennedy (maths)
Mr Shepherd (PE)
Mr Stickland (PE)
What would Martin change about their time at Bournemouth School?
Nothing
What is Martin's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?
Being introduced to Mr Cotterill in the woodwork class. My family had moved from Wales and I had a strong Welsh accent. He had a strong West Country accent himself as anyone who met him will remember. As soon as he heard me speak he called me Ivor after Ivor the engine. It stuck!
