Martin's biography:

After graduating with an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering, I worked in engineering, aerospace and oil companies around the UK and in Holland as a mechanical engineer, reliability engineer and finally as a maintenance and engineering manager at Shell’s Bacton Gas Plant in Norfolk. After retiring from full-time work, I taught Numeracy and then GCSE Maths to adults. My wife and I recently moved back to the BCP area and have just celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary. We have grown-up children and young grandchildren and recently one of our great nephews became a student at Bournemouth School. I still ride a motorcycle and and am a coxswain with Christchurch & Bournemouth MVS.

What was best about Martin's time at Bournemouth School?

Learning to play Squash at Meyrick Park and learning to sail and canoe at the Hengistbury Head centre on Wednesday afternoons.

Who does Martin remember most fondly?

The basketball and table tennis games for Romsey house at lunchtime.

What would Martin change about their time at Bournemouth School?

Having to wear a cap!

What is Martin's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?

Having done very poorly in my A levels, I spent another year at school retaking them. During that year took an O level in Technical Drawing, finally finding a subject I really enjoyed and getting the top grade!
