This course provides an invaluable opportunity to see how previous events shape the world in which we live today. As we see history regularly repeating itself both in the UK and globally, the subject has never been more relevant or topical. We selected our topics democratically by consulting our students and going with their preferences, where possible. Since this GCSE was introduced in 2016, it has proven to be a very popular option choice every year and our results have been consistently very strong within the school. Students learn important skills such as the ability to analyse and evaluate primary sources and historians’ interpretations of the past within the different historical contexts of our chosen options. Students learn how to build an argument and write with fluency in a well-structured and logical style.
