Hotel management. Assistant manager at the Savoy Hotel in Bournemouth; spent one year in Switzerland working at the Beau Rivage hotel in Lausanne. In 1996 I built and operated an English style pub in Edmonton and in 2005 I retired and moved to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island where I currently live.

What was best about Ian's time at Bournemouth School?

Being taught the importance of discipline. We were all scared to death of Mr Dodds!

Who does Ian remember most fondly?

Being allowed to bring my sandwich lunches. I was never strong academically but I always enjoyed the sports side of the school.

What would Ian change about their time at Bournemouth School?

If it had been possible to improve the school meals that would have been a bonus. I could never understand why mashed potatoes had to have a lumps in them!

What is Ian's favourite anecdote/most vivid memory?

My parents were giving me five shillings a week for my school lunches and I told my teachers that I was going home for lunch. I got caught coming back from the sweet shop one lunchtime!
