CCF Sleepout

After a full week at school, 37 cadets and 8 staff from Bournemouth School's CCF braved the elements last Friday, sleeping out in the copse at the school to raise awareness and money for homeless veterans. The event, which has currently raised over £1,200 for the Royal British Legion, saw Year 9 cadets, led by older NCOs from the contingent’s army section, deploy into the woods straight after school on Friday, 7 March.

After setting up their camp, consisting of a basha (a tarpaulin shelter strung between trees), roll mat and sleeping bag, the cadets engaged in a number of activities throughout the evening, including a reaction based competition, night patrolling and a fan favourite of laser tag on the field.

On the menu for the evening was army-issued 24-hour rations, prepared by the cadets themselves. The cadets were in good spirits throughout and thoroughly enjoyed their evening.
