Year 12 Southampton University Trip

The year 12 cohort visited Southampton University on Tuesday 7 July to gain an understanding of what being on a university campus feels like. The day was structured into three sessions; an introduction session in Southampton’s impressive Lecture Theatre, followed by an invaluable Personal Statement session, while the final session was a mix of taster sessions, including one held by professor, Dr Michael Head, who discussed the impact of vaccinations; touching on the antivax lobbying of various vaccines, such as the MMR and HPV roll-out schemes and the effects of the Covid vaccines in the pandemic.
The year 12 cohort was also given a tour of the campus and invited to have lunch in one of the various food outlets onsite.
Overall, the day was a big success in establishing Southampton University as a local, viable option for our Sixth Form students and it gave them a positive insight into life as a university student.
Bournemouth School would like to thank Southampton University for their efforts and inviting Bournemouth School to their site for the day.
