Aleks Rogers, one of our regular alumni visitors, was welcomed back into Bournemouth School on Friday 9 July to give an inspiring presentation to our current Year 9 cohort on his experiences on a degree apprenticeship with Dyson UK.
His personal insights touched upon living in-house in one of the Dyson Pods that are offered to first-year apprentices. The unique accommodation, designed using shipping containers, are located on campus and offer support, for example, in the form of cookery classes from an on-site chef; helping the apprentices learn key skills which are vital when moving away from home for the first time.
In addition, Aleks discussed various Dyson products, including projects that he has worked specifically on, plus his personal experiences throughout the programme.
He also talked through his plans post-apprenticeship and how he will be staying with Dyson, but spending six months working in the Philippines at one of the offices based there.
Overall, Aleksโ discussion was insightful, enthusiastic and his energy resonated throughout. He clearly inspired our Year 9 cohort as the session ended with a large Q & A. Bournemouth School feels incredibly grateful to have Aleks on our alumni list and we recognise this by adding him to our growing list of โShining Starsโ in our next Spotlight article. He offers his time to come back every year since leaving the school to provide inspiration to our future engineers.
Bournemouth School would like to thank Aleks for his continuing support and wish him well with his future endeavours.
